All participants (including invited speakers) are requested to register by the following: Registration Form.

Accommodation

We prepared rooms for lodging in Holiday Inn Kyoto for participants. All registered participants (including invited speakers) are kindly requested to book their rooms by themselves. For booking, please send an e-mail to Mr. Araki at the following e-mail address:

The e-mail should contain the following phrase: I am a (We are) participant(s) of the conference "Algebraic Geometry & Beyond". Although we think that we have kept plenty enough of rooms in the hotel, the number of the rooms is limited. Please make reservation as soon as possible.

How to get to RIMS, Kyoto University (or to your hotel)

The conference will be taken place at RIMS in Kyoto University.

You will generally arrive either at Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Osaka, or at New Tokyo International (Narita) Airport (NRT) in Narita. For an easy access to Kyoto, it is advisable to arrive at Kansai International Airport.

From Kansai International Airport to Kyoto Station

There is a JR station (Kansai Airport Station) on the second floor of the airport terminal. The JR Limited Express train "HARUKA" runs every 30 minutes. It takes about 75 minutes from the Airport Station to the JR Kyoto Station. The fare is 2,980 yen for a non-reserved seat, and 3,490 yen for a reserved seat.

From New Tokyo International (Narita) Airport to Kyoto Station

There are generally three ways to get to the JR Kyoto Station.

(1) (By land) Narita Airport ==> JR Tokyo Station ==> JR Kyoto Station.
Narita airport has two terminals. On the B1 floor of each terminal is a JR station. The JR Limited train "Narita Express" runs every one hour, and every 30 minutes at peak hours. It takes approximately 60 minutes from the airport to the JR Tokyo Station, where the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen (bullet train) "NOZOMI" or "HIKARI" departs. The NOZOMI ride to the JR Kyoto Station is about 2 hours and half, while HIKARI ride is about 3 hours. It is advisable to buy all your tickets at the airport station. The fare for Narita Express is 2,940 yen, and the fare for Shinkansen is about from 12,710 to 13,520 yen.

(2) (By air) Narita airport ==> Haneda airport ==> Osaka (Itami) airport ==> JR Kyoto Station.
You will generally take a train or a limousine bus to get to Haneda airport. By rail, travelling time is about 105 minutes and the fare is 1,560 yen. By bus, expected travelling time is 75 minutes and the fare is 3,000 yen (Actual travelling time, however,depends heavily on the traffic situation in downtown Tokyo.) A flight from Haneda airport to Osaka (Itami) airport is about one hour long. From Osaka airport, the limousine bus departs every 20 minutes. It takes about 55 minutes to the JR Kyoto Station, and the fare is 1,280 yen.

(3) (By air) Narita Airport ==> Osaka (Itami) Airport ==> JR Kyoto Station.
Some (though not many) airplanes fly from Narita airport to Osaka (Itami) airport. From Osaka airport, the limousine bus departs every 20 minutes. It takes about 55 minutes to the JR Kyoto Station, and the fare is 1,280 yen. Links in (2) might be useful.

From Kyoto Station to RIMS, Kyoto University (or to your hotel)

If you take HARUKA from Kansai International Airport, you will arrive at Platform No. 30 of the JR Kyoto Station. Go straight in the direction of your train, and you will see the north exit (Karasuma central exit) on your left. If you take a limousine bus from Osaka (Itami) Airport, you will arrive at (the east side of) the south exit (Hachijo-guchi exit) of the JR Kyoto Station.

A large taxi stand and the bus terminal are at Karasuma central exit. Another taxi stand is at Hachijo-guchi exit. The Kyoto city subway station is on the B1 floor of the Kyoto Station Building.

To your hotel
A convenient way is to take a taxi. For example, it costs about 2,000 to 2,500 yen to RIMS, Kyoto University. You don't need to tip in Japan.

Holiday Inn comlimentary shuttle bus runs from the south exit (Hachijo-guchi exit) of the JR Kyoto Station to Holiday Inn. For details, please check the website of Holiday Inn Kyoto.

To RIMS, Kyoto University
(1)(By taxi) A convenient way is to take a taxi. It costs about 2,000 to 2,500 yen to RIMS. You don't need to tip in Japan.
(2)(By subway and then taxi or bus) Take the subway (northbound) to Imadegawa Station. It takes 10 minutes and costs 230 yen. Then take a taxi or City Bus No.203 (eastbound) to "Kitashirakawa". The bus fare is 220 yen.
(3)(By bus) Take City Bus No.17 (northbound) to "Kitashirakawa." The fare is 220 yen.
